Role Overview

As a Philosopher or Ethics Researcher, you will bring structured ethical analysis to projects that require careful judgment, conceptual clarity, and well-reasoned evaluation. You will examine complex questions from multiple perspectives, assess the assumptions behind recommendations, and help ensure that outputs are principled, coherent, and appropriately sensitive to their broader implications.

This role is suited to professionals who can translate philosophical and ethical expertise into clear, practical evaluations. You will work independently and with cross-functional teams on research, governance, and human-centered initiatives where nuance, consistency, and sound reasoning are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate content involving ethical reasoning, values, and complex decision-making.
  • Analyze arguments, assumptions, and potential implications across diverse scenarios.
  • Assess consistency, fairness, and logical coherence in responses and recommendations.
  • Identify bias, ambiguity, harmful implications, or unsupported conclusions.
  • Compare and rank alternative approaches based on established criteria.
  • Document findings and provide clear rationale for evaluations.
  • Apply ethical frameworks and critical thinking to challenging edge cases.
  • Support projects involving policy, governance, responsible practices, and human-centered considerations.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Philosophy, Ethics, Political Theory, Public Policy, Cognitive Science, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degrees, such as a master’s degree or PhD, are highly valued.
  • Experience in academia, research institutions, policy organizations, or interdisciplinary ethics programs is strongly preferred.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of academic, research, teaching, or professional experience in philosophy, ethics, political theory, public policy, or related fields.
  • Experience conducting research, writing, or analysis involving ethical or normative questions.
  • Experience evaluating arguments, tradeoffs, and complex reasoning scenarios.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and written-communication skills.
  • Experience working with nuanced or sensitive subject matter.

Language Proficiency

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
