Role Overview
As an Inbound Medical Translator, you will provide real-time English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English interpretation support for healthcare-related conversations. You will help ensure that patients and healthcare professionals can communicate clearly while preserving the meaning, context, and appropriate medical terminology of each interaction.
This role is suited to bilingual professionals with a strong healthcare background, excellent listening skills, and the ability to remain calm and accurate in sensitive situations. You will work independently in a remote environment while following project procedures, privacy requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, real-time inbound medical translation between English and Spanish.
- Translate healthcare-related conversations while preserving meaning, context, and terminology.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and data-security standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Follow project-specific guidelines, workflows, and quality standards.
- Complete required documentation and reporting accurately.
- Participate in required training and certification activities before deployment.
Qualifications
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer service, customer-experience, or contact-center experience is preferred.
- Comfort assisting customers with tax-preparation-related and account inquiries within established support guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes consistently.
- Good problem-solving, active-listening, and customer-service skills.
- Comfort navigating multiple systems, applications, and digital tools.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Professional approach to handling confidential and sensitive customer information.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Reliable internet connection and a suitable remote-work setup.
- Availability to meet the required schedule throughout the seasonal project.
Preferred Background
- Background in medical, healthcare, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, or a related field.
- Experience in medical interpretation or medical translation is highly preferred.
- Experience working in customer support, healthcare operations, or clinical environments is an advantage.
Required Skills
- B2 to C1 proficiency in both English and Spanish, spoken and written.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology in both languages.
- Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in sensitive situations.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Training Requirements
Selected candidates must successfully complete the required onboarding and certification process, including:
- Three weeks of self-paced training.
- Daily completion of assigned training modules and activities.
- Successful completion of required knowledge assessments.
- Meeting the client’s certification requirements before being endorsed for production.
- Failure to complete training or certification requirements may affect project eligibility.
Work From Home Requirements
- A reliable computer that meets project specifications.
- Stable, high-speed internet connection.
- Wired or approved headset, if required.
- Quiet, distraction-free workspace.
- Ability to install and use required communication and productivity tools.
- Additional technical requirements will be provided during the onboarding process.
Education and Expertise
- A degree, certification, or formal education in a medical or healthcare-related discipline is strongly preferred but not required.
- Medical-interpreter or healthcare-language certification is an advantage but not required unless specified by the client.
